A young couple, 24-year-old Abena Benewa and 26-year-old Bright Ashiao have been arrested at Awutu Bontrase in the Awutu Senya West District for allegedly beheading their three days old baby for a suspected money ritual.

The disturbing act was brought to light after residents discovered the mutilated body of the baby at a refuse dump and launched a search for the perpetrators of the heinous act.


It is reported that the couple claimed the baby was pronounced dead upon delivery by a traditional birth attendant in Bontrase but failed to adequately explain the severed body parts. 


Following rigorous questioning, residents handed over the suspects to the Awutu Beraku District Police Command for further investigations and prosecution.
